Media is the fourth pillar of democracy and is suppose to have a lot of credibility. Indian media has a history behind itself of leading the country in its fight for independence. Media is also supposed to shape public opinion. But is the media really doing its job? Has the media been successful in performing its functions? This research was undertaken with the purpose of examining the extent to which media is being misused for personals gains. This research was also meant to look into the role of the media itself in indulging in practices, which undermines democracy. The Propaganda Model was used to understand the various elements that work within the media that has led to a question upon its credibility. This study is not meant to give any judgments, however this study was intended to provide an understanding of the mal practices that occur within the media.
